Teaching Fellowships

College Teaching Fellowships were established in the DIT in 2009 under the auspices of the DRHEA SIF 2 project. A Fellowship is awarded to an individual or a team in support of their work developing and evaluating a specific project that supports the enhancement of learning and/or curriculum development at a programme, school or College level. Teaching Fellowships are aligned with the college and/or Institutional strategy.
Each College Fellow provides one lunchtime WIP session on their research and a project overview at the DIT Showcase.

The 2011-12 Fellowships were launched on 29 September at an event in Mount St.

'Translating teaching and learning across disciplines in a modular system'
Dr Patricia Kieran (UCD Teaching Fellow)

Patricia talked about the experience of being a Fellow as well as the findings of the Fellows group project on electives. The project examined student motivations for choosing electives and the teaching and learning implications for both staff and students in elective classes with wide-ranging prior learning and academic backgrounds. The results of the project were recently published in Teaching in Higher Education. You can view the presentations.
