‌‌DIT All Aboard 2017

A series of events all about digital life, digital literacy, digital skills and more, which ran in DIT from Monday 3rd April to Friday 7th April. With almost 350 attendances from DIT staff, students and the general public.

Events taking place over the week included - talks on digital identity, Microsoft Office365 roadshows, demonstrations of Google Suite, panel discussion on Post Truth society, the opportunity to try out digital reality headsets, a talk on EU Kids Online/internet safety, Be Your Own Factchecker workshops, advice on using LinkedIn for career purposes, 3D Printing demonstrations, security in the cloud and more!

This weeklong series of events was funded by the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, and was part of a national initiative running in third level institutions all over Ireland, see All Aboard 2017. The event at DIT was co-ordinated jointly by the Learning, Teaching and Technology Centre and DIT Library Services, with help from DIT Students Union.

Over the course of the week we also ran a fact checking competition for DIT Staff and Students - out of almost 140 entries only nine people got all answers correct, maybe a bit more digital literacy needed! And well done to Mary Moynihan of the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, who wins an iPad Air for her correct entry.

Staff and students who attended events each day were also eligible for the iPad Draw, winners are:

Laura Cuddihy, DIT School of Marketing
Eimear Crotty, DIT fourth year student in Nutraceuticals in Health and Nutrition
Anita Scullion, DIT ICT Services
Nha Nguyen, DIT student recently arrived from Vietnam and taking the Masters in Computing qualifier.

Many thanks to everyone who assisted in the organisation and delivery of this series, and particular thanks to all those who took the time to attend events.
