Planning for learning - designing effective teaching events

  • This workshop will focus on the process of planning and structuring teaching events (lectures, tutorials, seminars, labs) for your students.
  • We will review the place of your teaching event within the module, reviewing module learning outcomes and how sessions fit with these.
  • We will address setting session objectives, designing a session plan, and implementing your plan in practice.
  • This workshop is suitable for all staff currently teaching.

Key areas of focus will include:

  • Writing practical and workable session outlines, and identifying resources you might need.
  • Constructive alignment – aligning your session with the module learning outcomes and assessment.
  • Reflection on teaching post-event and planning for future sessions.
